THE NOMINATION PERIOD FOR THE LBM JOURNAL 40 UNDER 40 PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN!
What is the LBM Journal 40 Under 40? It’s a list of 40 pros who have achieved success in the lumber/building material industry before turning 40. LBM Journal’s goal with this program is to recognize and celebrate the growing class of strong, young leaders in the LBM community, and to provide them with a space to share ideas, build relationships, and grow in their professional roles.
What defines an LBM Journal 40 Under 40 award winner? The award program is designed to recognize 40 LBM pros under the age of 40 who demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment and excellence in service to their companies, their customers, and the LBM community.
Who is eligible? Employees or owners of a lumberyard, specialty dealer/distributor, wholesale distributor, manufacturer or service provider who are over 20 years old and under 40 years of age during the 2024 calendar year.
Can I nominate myself? Yes! If this sounds like you, then definitely complete the form below and throw your hat in the ring.
Can I nominate someone else? Yes!
There is no cost to enter. The deadline for the LBM Journal 40 under 40 is February 29, 2024.
Process
1. Register
Click on the "Register" link and complete and submit the registration form.
2. Login
Login to the nomination portal with your email and password.
3. Create
Create your online nomination.
4. Save
During the Call for Nominations period, your nomination can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. As each section is complete, you will see a 
appear in the tab when the nomination is saved. At any time, you can download and print your nomination by clicking on the 
icon in the Nomination Summary section.
5. Submit
On completion, save your Nomination as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your nomination for your records by clicking on the icon in the Nomination Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Call for Nominations period, you can make the update and resave as FINAL.

Who decides who will be in the LBM 40 Under 40?
LBM Journal’s editors and staff along with several current 40 Under 40 members.
When will LBM Journal publish the next class of the LBM 40 Under 40?
The 2024 class of the LBM 40 Under 40 will be published in the June issue of LBM Journal and on LBMJournal.com.
When do nominations begin?
Nominations are open! The deadline for nominations is February 29, 2024.
Will I be informed if I was not selected?
Only those selected will be informed in advance of publication of the list.
Can someone be honored as a 40 Under 40 multiple years?
People can only appear on the LBM Journal 40 Under 40 list once.
Will more than one application from the same company be accepted?
Yes.
I was not picked for a previous 40 Under 40 list. Can you tell me why?
With hundreds of candidates and only 40 slots, many nominees will not be chosen. You’re encouraged to enter again, as long as you meet the eligibility guidelines.
Guidelines:
- Candidates should have already contributed significantly to their company and should have the potential to do much more in future years.
- Nominees must not turn 40 before January 1, 2025.
- Candidates may nominate themselves, and this is highly encouraged!
- Previous winners are not eligible.
- Nominations that were not selected in a previous year, can be submitted again.
- Selections are not final until announced.
- The number of nominations received for a person has no bearing on the judging process.
- All nominations must be entered via this process. Separate letters or emails of recommendation will not be accepted.
